M140P Series

A modern controller for mechanically governed diesel engines

The M140P is a rugged controller designed for mechanically governed diesel engines used in industrial, agricultural and off-road applications. Built for OEM installations or retrofit projects, the M140P replaces aging analog gauge panels while adding modern functionality, such as diagnostic logging, alarm history, and a full-color graphical display.

By combining simple mechanical-engine compatibility with features typically found on electronically controlled engines, the M140P delivers reliable start/stop logic (with the addition of our Auto-Start module), alarm protection, and clear operator feedback, without requiring an ECU or CAN-based engine interface.

Key Benefits

  • Designed specifically for mechanically governed diesel engines
  • Direct replacement for legacy analog gauge panels (software configuration required)
  • Full-color 3.5″ LCD graphical display
  • Integrated start/stop logic and alarm protection (With Auto-Start module)
  • Diagnostic logging and alarm history
  • Simple configuration with clear on-screen menus

Display & User Interface

The M140P features a bright, easy-to-read 3.5″ full-color graphical LCD display designed for harsh industrial environments.

Display Capabilities:

  • Single-parameter or quad-parameter display modes
  • Large numerical readouts for quick visibility
  • Customizable data units (°F / °C, PSI / BAR, etc.)
  • Adjustable screen backlight for varying lighting conditions

Diagnostics, Alarms & Logging

The M140P provides robust monitoring and troubleshooting tools to protect your engine and simplify maintenance.

Features:

  • On-screen alarm pop-ups with audible buzzer
  • Configurable shutdown inputs for critical engine conditions
  • Alarm event log with timestamped records (based on engine hours)
  • Alarm review screen accessible from the home menu
  • I/O Status screen showing real-time input and output states

Safety & Engine Protection

The M140P supports multiple shutdown inputs to protect the engine from fault conditions.

Safety Inputs:

  • High temperature shutdown switch input
  • Low oil pressure shutdown switch input
  • External safety / emergency stop input
  • Two auxiliary shutdown inputs

Shutdown behavior and alarms are configurable to match the application requirements and can be set on any available input.

Control & Configuration

The M140P is configured using intuitive on-screen menus accessed through the front-panel keypad.

Control Features:

  • Keyswitch-based start and stop control
  • Configurable preheat and afterglow output
  • User-settable engine hours (for replacement of legacy systems)
  • Maintenance timer with configurable service interval

Configurable I/O

The M140P includes configurable analog and digital inputs that allow it to adapt to a wide range of mechanical engine setups.

I/O Capabilities:

  • 7 Analog sender inputs for oil pressure, coolant temperature and fuel level or alarm inputs
  • 2 Digital inputs for safety switches
  • User-selectable sender types for proper scaling and display
  • Alarm and shutdown assignment through the I/O Settings menu

Optional Auto-Start Capability

For pump and remote engine applications, the M140P supports an optional Auto-Start module that integrates directly into the controller harness.

When equipped with the Auto-Start option:

  • The system enters a low-power standby mode with the display powered down
  • A float switch or remote input triggers engine start
  • The engine runs until the stop condition is met
  • The controller shuts down the engine and returns to standby mode
